ABOUT COLLEGE

Vellore Institute Of Technology [VIT University], Vellore formerly Vellore Engineering College is a private deemed university institute located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. It was founded in 1984. The university currently offers undergraduate, postgraduate, integrated and research programs in the fields of Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences, and Management. It offers around 19 Undergraduate, 34 Postgraduate, 2 Integrated & 4 Research Programmes. It has a campus area of 250 acres and a strength of over 24000 students. Even, students from 50 countries as well as from almost every state of India come here for pursuing their degree. It also has a campus in Chennai. A new 200-acre campus called VIT-AP located at Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh is under construction.

VIT’s academics is structured around nine schools which are-School of Computing Science & Engineering (SCSE), School of BioSciences & Technology (SBST), School of Information Technology & Engineering (SITE), School of Electrical Engineering (SELECT), School of Social Sciences & Languages (SSL), School of Advanced Sciences (SAS), School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE), School of Mechanical & Building Sciences (SMBS), VIT Business School (VITBS).

The library comprises of 2,21,118 books, 13344 e-journals, 21460 e-books and VIT to complement the academic component of the university and enhance the overall educational experience of students allows through a wide range of extra-curricular programmes, facilities, services, and activities. These events provide students and other members of the university exposure to a variety of social, cultural, intellectual, recreational opportunities and challenges. Such experiences enrich the lives of students and help them fulfill their potential.

VIT has also been accredited by TCS, Wipro, and Cognizant for academic collaboration and placements. With a faculty support of over 1400 faculties, well-furnished laboratories, excellent campus facilities & good infrastructure, VIT has been Ranked 14th among top 100 universities in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework (MHRD) in 2017.
