ABOUT COLLEGE

The Government College Of Engineering And Leather Technology is also known as GCELT is a Pioneer Institute in the Field of Research Education on Leather Technology. It was established on 11 March 1919 just after the World War-1. This Institute is under the administrative control of the Department of Higher Education of the Government of West Bengal and Directorate of Technical education West Bengal. The main moto was to provide teaching & research in Leather Technology and Leather goods making and Footwear, assistance to Industries and also to provide training and organize seminars/workshops.This college is affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology) and is approved by AICTE and also offered courses like B.Tech in Information Technology, Computer Science & Engineering. GCELT has a huge RFID facilitated library with more than 18,000 books, 16 National Journals, and 12 International Journals.
