Electronics and Instrumentation-www.wbjee.co.in

Electronics is the science of controlling electrical energy electrically and electronics engineering is the largest and most sophisticated branches of engineering. The electronics engineer deals with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components (like integrated circuits, transistors, vacuum tubes, diodes, optoelectronics & sensors), associated passive electrical components, and interconnection technologies(e.g:-Television, Radio, computers, telephones etc).

This branch is a combination of instrumentation engineering and electronics engineering, one can say sensing with instruments. Students can pursue M.Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering after successful completion of BE/B.Tech.

This branch deals with electronic controls and communications engineering, digital control, digital signal processing, electrical machines, IC fabrication technology, process control, semiconductor devices, virtual instrumentation, neural network and fuzzy logic, data communication and networks. one will also study robotics, biomedical, computer control in process application,computer-assisted measurements with all the latest techniques of instrumentation engineering. Electronics engineering is a rapidly growing sector where there are excellent job opportunities for the knowledgeable and skilled professionals.

What should be Taught in this stream?

As this steam of Engineering is a sub-part of electronics so you will get a hand full of Digital & Analog Electronics, Applied Physics, a bit of Applied Mathematics, basic electrical and electronics engineering, Electrical Networks, control theory,  Electromagnetic Field Theory, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, Industrial Instrumentation, Process Control and Instrumentation, Robotics and Mechatronics, Electronic Instruments, and Measurements and don’t confuse with the name but you will also study Computer Organization and System Software, Virtual Instrumentation (MATLAB etc), Computer Programming in your entire course of Undergraduate(UG) program.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

For UG: Class XII pass-out from a recognized school with 60% in physics, chemistry, and maths.
For PG: B.Tech degree in the given areas: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.

What Does an Electronics and Instrumentation Engineer do?

Instrumentation engineers basic job is to develop and test electronic sensors, testing, manufacturing, and maintenance of electronic devices the job also includes understanding the construction, merits, identification, limitations, characteristics, and applications of electronic devices and materials and understanding the how the sensors are responding etc.

Electronics and Instrumentation Engineer deals with developing and manufacturing of electronic devices, sensors (like Temperature Sensor, IR Sensor, Ultrasonic Sensor, Touch Sensor, Proximity Sensors, Pressure Sensor, Level Sensors, Smoke and Gas Sensors etc), complex circuits design etc.

Electronics and Instrumentation engineers can also go for higher studies to deepen the knowledge and skills with concepts and theories which will help them in professional work like operations, productions, systems implementation, and maintenance.
