ABOUT COLLEGE
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani – Goa Campus, officially Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani – K.K. Birla Goa Campus. It is a technical and science institute for higher education is located in Goa, India. It is one of the four campuses of BITS Pilani, established in the year 2004. The college campus is one of the most beautiful campuses in India.
The academic block is known as the B Dome consisting of the classrooms, laboratories, four lecture theatres, and faculty rooms, with wifi and fully air-conditioned. The campus consists of 15 hostels with some new ones in progress, a cricket ground and a sports activity center with the variety of sports facilities such as badminton, football, basketball, tennis, table tennis, squash and many more. The college has good industry exposure with a number of companies coming for recruitment. Live talks are conducted on regular basis decorated with the presence of esteemed entrepreneurs, engineers, and businessmen, especially during the Technical fest and TEDx. The BITS Goa has a very happening campus with a variety of quality projects being offered by the faculty helping in the enhancement of the abilities and get hands-on experience. There are a number of clubs and groups catering to the variety of interests in students. The three fests – the technical fest Quark, the cultural fest Waves, and the sports fest Spree witness participation from all over the country and feature top artists and performers.
All the hostels have single occupancy rooms with wifi and LAN connections, two messes which provide clean and good food. The campus also contains a small shopping complex, salon, laundry facilities, fruit and vegetable shops and many restaurants to get respite from the everyday hostel food.
The faculties are well equipped with their subjects and they make the classes very interesting and interactive. The student diversity is a healthy mix of people from all states and background. A few regional groups are formed for the sake of celebration of some festivals, otherwise students do not restrict themselves to these groups rather there is the existence of very friendly and healthy environment. The college fees are moderately high but merit and merit cum need scholarships are provided.
BITS is India’s only institute which does not follow the reservation system and does not provide any facilities based on the quota for any caste. Its alumni base consists many distinguished names like Prithviraj Chauhan, former CM of Maharashtra, Sanjay Mehrotra, the founder of Sandisk and many more. BITS also provides the students with the most flexible education system in India with 0% attendance facility, being the only institute in India to provide with this.
It is also highly rated for the personality development of its students and though it is a private institution, it is still among the top 5 engineering colleges in any list beating more than 70% IITs.
